SunTrust anti-identity theft a first package in the industry
In a trend that could be setting move, SunTrust Banks, Inc., said Monday he began to offer free credit monitoring report of its customers as a preventive measure in the fight against identity theft.
The bank in Atlanta, said its decision is the first financial institution in the country to offer free service.
“We were of the opinion that we had the opportunity to offer something unique on the market,” said Gene Kirby, SunTrust’s Executive Vice President of Retail business. “This has an advantage for the bank and the client.”
With identity theft cost consumers and businesses which amount to billions a year, it is under the nation’s fastest growing white-collar crime.
