Ex-senator wins a car accident
Former state Senator Paul Broun of Athens is scheduled for Athens Regional Medical Center in the coming days because of a dramatic upgrade in his condition Tuesday after a car accident.
Mr. Broun, 85, was in hospital intensive care Tuesday noon after an accident in the west of Broad Street.
It was updated on Wednesday in critical but stable to fair conditions and in good condition, hospital spokeswoman Sallie said Barker.
Mr. Broun son, Dr. Paul C. Broun Jr., Wednesday, his father seems not to have any life threatening injuries.
“ He has some injury concerns, and we have seen with precision, but I expect to recover fully in a very short period of time,’’said Dr. Broun. “ I do not expect that the long-term problems.”Dr. Broun said the family has taken calls from across the state and some of Heads of State after notification of the accident spread.
“ It is deeply loved by the people across the country, and it is very hot this end of great importance,’’said Dr. Broun.
Athens-Clarke County police said Broun, a red light at West Broad Street, for a car that was disabling Newton Street, carénant then in another car. The two other drivers in the accident were not injured.
Mr. Broun was cited by police for running a red light.
Mr Broun is served Georgia’s 46 district for 38 years before his defeat Democratic primary in Athens, the lawyer Doug Haines during the last year.
