Announcing a plan to reorganize Friedman
Fort jeweler Friedman announced Friday that a U.S. bankruptcy court confirmed its reorganization plan, setting the stage for its emergence from Chapter 11 until the end of the year. The company also announced the approval of a decree by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as well as an agreement of non-prosecution with the USA Attorney’s Office, both subject to judicial approval . The company is considering the closure of 51 branches of Christmas.
Friedman’s acts voluntary Chapter 11 petitions in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Georgia, Savannah,and the reorganisation plan proposed August.
The request came after months of unrest in activity began in 2003 when the company announced that its audited financial statements for 2001 and 2002, should be adapted and that the allowance for doubtful debts were too low.
